Your lost AirPods will get a bit easier to find once you install iOS 10.3, which is now available for download.

That's because the update includes a beefed-up Find My iPhone app that lets you view the current or last known location of the tiny wireless earbuds, as well as play a sound on one or both AirPods to help you find them.

Other significant additions in iOS 10.3 are focused on cars and Siri, Apple's personal digital assistant, which is not surprising given the competition Apple faces from Google and Amazon in the connected car and personal digital assistant arenas.

Siri now includes support for checking your car's fuel level and lock status, as well as turning on the lights and activating the horn. Those features will require a compatible app from the car's automaker. And with Apple's Maps app, you can now search for "parked car" and instantly locate your vehicle's location (which, by the way, you can also do with the Google Maps app).

CarPlay improvements include new shortcuts in the status bar that let you relaunch the apps you last used, as well as new music features, like displaying Apple Music curated categories, playlists, and which song is coming up next.

Other improvements to Siri include the ability to schedule a pickup with ride-hailing apps like Uber, pay bills with payment apps, and check cricket sports scores.

There are considerable improvements behind the scenes, too. Apple's iOS 10.3 is the first version of iOS to run on the new Apple File System (AFS), which is designed to replace the HFS+ system that Apple devices have been running on since the 1990s. AFS is optimized for the flash storage that is now ubiquitous in smartphones and tablets, which means you could see a noticeable performance bump and an increase in storage space when you upgrade.
