Is Words With Friends a little stodgy for your taste? Millennials may want to ditch it for Slang N' Friendz.
The social crossword app from rapper and actor Ludacris (yes, that Ludacris) rewards folks for using slang words. The Scrabble-like game launched in 2012 with little fanfare, but it got an update this week—new designs, background and tileset options, Ludacris voiceovers—in hopes of capturing the Internet's attention.
Users can sign in to chat with people around the world, practice with single play, and suggest and learn new slang words from various countries. Take on challengers with traditional expressions and non-standard phrases—jargon like "sus" and "hunty" will earn you bonus points.
Players are also encouraged to add their own slang terms. A Brit, for instance, could introduce "gobsmacked" (to be shocked and surprised), while an Italian competitor may include "spettegolare" (to gossip). Someone from Sweden, meanwhile, might play "bakis" (hungover).
"In a time when so much of the world is divided, technology has the opportunity to bring us together," Ludacris said in a statement. "Slang N' Friendz encourages users to connect, be friendly and identify what they have in common through language. It's also a chance for different generations to learn about each other's unique forms of communication and find ways to use language to bridge generation gaps."

Slang N' Friendz is produced by filmmaker and developer Edwin Benton, in partnership with Ludacris. It serves as the flagship title from The CAT (Cool Application Technology) Apps group.
"Our purpose is to connect people across the world and allow users to engage with someone they wouldn't normally meet," Benton said. "Slang is universal and could [be] the driving factor that brings us together and one day, possibly change the world."
Slang N' Friendz is available to download for free on iTunes Store and Google Play; both feature in-app purchases that range from $0.99 to $8.99.
