Sony's PlayStation 4 may be this console generation's best-selling system, but Microsoft's Xbox One has the vastly superior video game library. Yup, I said it.

Sure, Uncharted 4 is a pretty cool PlayStation 4 exclusive that you can buy right now, but many of the system's most interesting titles are just now starting to appear. Xbox One, on the other hand, has a multitude of unique games that you won't find on other consoles; games that make the system worth its $249 starting price.

Yes, starting price. Xbox One is now available in several tiers and bundles, and you can purchase the console with or without the now unsupported Kinect motion-sensing bar. The enhanced Xbox One S debuted earlier this year, boasting 4K capabilities and the muscle to power virtual reality, starting at $299. If you're jumping from Xbox 360, I recommend the Xbox One S over the vanilla box. But the Xbox One S's minimal hardware improvements aren't significant enough to warrant an upgrade from Xbox One, unless you specifically want 4K and VR capabilities.

The Shaky Start
It's amazing that Xbox One is one of PCMag's recommended gaming platforms when you consider it endured an extremely rough start before its November 2013 debut, thanks in no small part to Microsoft's confusing messaging.

Vocal members of the video game community took Microsoft, and the console itself, to task for a highly questionable (and confusing) DRM scheme that would've radically altered how people played and shared video games. Microsoft eventually reversed its DRM tactic, and went on to sell an estimated 20 million units.

Great Games
Fortunately, a steady supply of solid games helped raise Xbox One's public profile. Not only does it boast highly sought-after third-party, multi-platform games, such as Grand Theft Auto V and Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, but also several noteworthy exclusives, such as the quirky D4 and Forza Horizon 3. They are part of Microsoft's Play Anywhere initiative, which allows titles to be played on consoles and Windows 10 devices.

It's those excellent, unique titles that make Xbox One shine. The games that you'll find in this list are titles that will let you: engage in hyper-violent combat; race fast cars down beautiful, winding roads; hop inside mechanical behemoths; solve murders; and more. Microsoft's console has a little something for nearly every type of gamer. Click through the slideshow to check them out.
