T-Mobile Offering Samsung Galaxy S7 BOGO Deal This Weekend

T-Mobile apparently has a lot of Galaxy S7 devices sitting around, as the mobile carrier just announced a buy one, get one (BOGO) promotion.

Those who go to T-Mobile's store or website this weekend and buy a Galaxy S7 with the company's Equipment Installment Plan can receive a second Galaxy S7 for free. There are several caveats, however: you'll need to add a new line of service and commit to two years of service; if you jump ship from T-Mobile before then, you'll have to pay the balance on that second phone.

The deal is available to current T-Mobile subscribers as well as those switching from another carrier. It starts on Friday, Nov. 11 at 6 a.m. PT and runs through Sunday, Nov. 13 at 11:59 p.m. PT.

As its name suggests, T-Mobile's Equipment Installment Plan lets you purchase a new phone or device and pay for it in monthly installments. The plan requires a 24-month financing agreement you sign at the time of the activation or upgrade. You can, however, pay off all or part of your EIP at any time.

One could perhaps surmise that T-Mobile launched this deal because people are buying fewer Samsung devices after that whole exploding Note 7 gaffe. On that topic, Samsung this week took out full-page ads in three major US newspapers to apologize for the debacle.

The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, and The Washington Post each included a letter to "our valued customers," signed by President and CEO of Samsung Electronics North America, Gregory Lee.

"An important tenet of our mission is to offer best-in-class safety and quality. Recently, we fell short on this promise. For this we are truly sorry," the ad said. "For those directly affected, we appreciate your patience throughout the exchange process. We know you expect more from Samsung, and that your loyalty is earned, not given."
