Driving requires attention and responsibility. It is just like the Spiderman's famous quote "With great power comes great responsibility", and while you are on the road, you have a huge obligation to abide the traffic rules and take safety measures.

Accident Statistics

Technology has advanced with years and it has changed the way we drive. Driving is much safer now compared to the past. Before going into details, we need to have a quick look at some statistics:

In 2011, there were 835 fatal car accidents and 281,788 crashes only in the state of Illinois. Statistics say that those accidents resulted in a total amount of 84,172 personal injuries. Similarly, in the states of Alabama, Texas, and California, there were 810, 2,752, 2,594 fatal crashes respectively, in 2011. It will come as no surprise that these numbers are much lower compared to the previous 10 years.

How Technology Has Improved Driving Safety

With the growing use and advancement of technology, road accidents and death rate have been controlled to a large extent. Driving is now significantly safer than it was before. Not only in the United States of America but in the whole world it is technology that has helped massively to reduce the risk of being on the road driving. In most cases, it is the speed factor that causes accidents. There are several adapative devices available in the market that are capable of controlling speed and providing smooth driving experience.

German cars are more advanced in this matter having the advanced lighting systems that maintain a safe distance between the cars. Manufacturers in the US have also adopted this technology and are using them in the newest car models.

How Technology Can improve Driving Safety

Advanced lighting systems are not enough to control fatal crashes. Car manufacturers need to develop something more intelligent. A new advancement is the use of collision radars in cars. Radar is able to give a signal to the driver if a car is getting close to a dangerous zone, it would also slow down the car immediately to avoid an accident. Radar systems are in the experiment phase but if this piece of technology reaches most cars in the world, it would be a revolutionary achievement. The number of car accidents would be drastically reduced to a negligible amount and loads of lives would be saved.

The driving safety is important for both drivers and the people walking on the roads. These radars would also slow down cars if they sense a person walking in front of the car. They also experiment with a smart camera that films the driver's behavior. If the camera feels that the driver is exhausted or tired, it will stop the car and ask the driver to take a coffee break.

There is always room for improvement and other surprising innovations are expected to emerge in the coming few years. These smart systems will definitely make driving a lot more harmless, smooth and enjoyable. If we combine all the new technologies with the existing ones, is there a chance that there will be no accidents in the coming years? Only time will tell!
