The Puffit 2 Vaporizer

The vaporizer I'll be reviewing today is the Puffit 2. The Puffit 2 is the successor to the Puffit. It's shaped just like an inhaler and this one is about the same size as an inhaler unlike the original. It's supposed to vaporize dry herbs and concentrates(not to be used with e-juice/vapor liquid), but I'll be focusing on the dry herb aspect. It has a price point of $99 so it is a lower end vaporizer model.

Upon opening the box it looks just like an inhaler sitting there. Picking it up for the first time, I realized it's much cheaper made than any inhaler I've ever held. There really isn't much to it at all. It splits into 3 parts, the battery, the oven, and the housing. The battery and the oven feel sturdy, but the plastic housing just feels cheap. Underneath the vaporizer, it comes with screens, wipes, and a stir tool like most vaporizers.

I have to give it props for being the stealthiest vape I've ever seen. It really does look just like an inhaler. It's very compact. However, along with being very small, it has a very small chamber. It is by far the smallest chamber I've seen in a vaporizer, fitting about .15g of dry herb. This really defeats the point of being stealthy. You'll have to spend the entire night repacking the vaporizer which often is a much riskier endeavor than actually vaping from it.

In order to pack the vaporizer, you have to take the entire vaporizer apart, fill the chamber, and then put it back together. The chamber is then held to the oven element with a simple magnet. You'll want to keep this oven clean or I could see problems arising with the magnet. After It's all together, there's a button you can press to change between 1 of 4 heat settings. I couldn't find anywhere just what the heat settings are exactly, but I found heat setting 2 and 3 to work best for dry herb. Once loaded you put everything back in the housing and begin to vape.

In order to turn it on you just click down on the vape, and in about 30 seconds it heats up and produces a decent cloud. You have to press it every time you want to take a puff, which is very annoying. It has an aggressive 90-second shutoff timer, which is terrible when you consider the fact that it takes 30 seconds to heat up. By the time you wait for it to heat up, take a draw, and exhale it has already shut off. The vapor it produces is adequate but not great. The mouthpiece tastes like cheap plastic and the vapor is slightly harsh, while the quantity varies a lot. You need to stir the chamber every 2-3 hits and you really only get 4-5 hits from 1 chamber pack. This wouldn't be so bad if you didn't need to take the entire unit apart in order to stir or refill the chamber, but you do.

The screen becomes clogged often, and it comes with replacement screens which are thankfully pretty easy and straightforward to replace. Overall cleaning it is a breeze as there really aren't many components. I have to say the battery life is definitely better than the original and a 30-minute charge gets you way more time then you'll probably need vaporizing with it.

Overall I would say the Puffit 2 is much better than the original, but it definitely hasn't kept up with the competition. It has a sort of 1 hitter design which wouldn't be so bad, except for the fact that it doesn't really start producing vapor until the second or third hit. It does its job as a vaporizer, but it really is annoying to use for an extended period. I would only really recommend this vaporizer as the novelty item that it is. It's something fun to show your friends, but it really isn't something I would use on a day to day basis. I'll give it a score of 3/5.
