Corsair Concept Zeus Mouse Uses Mouse Pad to Charge Wirelessly

Picking which computer mouse to use ultimately ends in a compromise. On the one hand, you can opt for a wired mouse and never have to worry about charging, but you are stuck with a cable. On the other, you can opt for a wireless mouse and be left repeatedly recharging it or changing out spent batteries. With Concept Zeus, Corsair wants to remove this compromise completely.

Corsair's Concept Zeus is a mouse pad and wireless mouse combo. The twist here being that you never have to charge the wireless mouse because it will always be recharging. Corsair achieved that feat by having the mouse pad double as a Qi charger and therefore able to charge the mouse wirelessly. The mouse can also be charged using a cable if you prefer.

A prototype of Concept Zeus is being shown off at Computex this week. It's not perfect, and the charging point does not currently cover the entire mouse pad. Instead the charging point is located in the upper-right corner. However, Corsair stated that when it does bring Zeus to market the wireless charging feature world work regardless of where the mouse was located on the mat. So even as you use the mouse it charges.

As the mouse pad is a Qi charging point, it isn't just limited to charging the Zeus mouse. There's nothing to stop you putting a compatible phone down on the surface and charging that, too.

If Concept Zeus sounds like a fantastic idea, then you'll be glad to hear Corsair isn't going to keep us waiting long to buy it. A release is promised before the end of 2017. Pricing isn't decided yet, but according to a Corsair representative talking to Hexus, we should expect a price tag in the region of $150-$200.
