Apple has announced iOS 11, the latest version of its mobile operating system that boasts a variety of small, yet important, tweaks. Messages, for instance, now syncs across all of your devices via iCloud and gets a redesigned app drawer for better discovery. Apple Pay, meanwhile, is now capable of letting you pay other people directly via iMessage, with the payments authenticated with Touch ID. Siri, meanwhile, gets automatic native translation, a feature that's been sorely lacking in previous versions.

+8Apple is also pushing greater contextual learning features to Siri, enabling it to take on a similar role to Google's assistant. In addition, while this information will be synced across all of your devices, none of it will be unencrypted. Siri will also monitor your web searches and will attempt to show you content that may be relevant to your interests.
Apple executive Craig Federighi also showed off a revamped Control Center that packs all of the features into a single pane, rather than adding additional swipes. In addition, the notification pane has now been merged with the lock screen, so an upward swipe will take you back to your lock screen.
Apple is also making several improvements to its Photos app, including a similar effect to Instagram's Boomerang loop feature. The company is, however, claiming that the software will be smart enough to pick the loops on your behalf to make loops more effective. In addition, the company is adding HEVC and HEIF compression to shrink video and images down on your device.
Maps, meanwhile, gets detailed internal navigation that lets you get around shopping malls and airports across the globe. Navigation, meanwhile, will now show you your speed and offer lane guidance while you're driving around. In addition, the company is adding a feature called Do Not Disturb While Driving that can identify if you're driving and shut off the display entirely to ensure you stay safe.
