This is going to be a great year for gamers of all ages. Activision Blizzard, Microsoft and other developers are introducing lots of great titles this year, such as Infinity Warfare, Resident Evil 7 and Horizon Zero Dawn. However, some of the best new games are coming from indie developers around the world.
If you like indie games, here are some awesome new titles to look for this year.

Kona

Most games are set in modern times, a futuristic setting or a medieval fantasy world. You don't see too many games set in the not so distant past.
That is what so refreshing about Kona. This game is set in northern Canada in 1970. The players must deal with a massive blizzard that overtakes a major lake and fight against the elements to avoid perishing.
If you want to try your luck with a realistic survival simulation, this is the game for you.

Street Mobster

The first few Grand Theft Auto titles were pretty sweet. However, some gamers are looking for a similar experience, but with a less corporate touch.
Street Mobsters is the mafia game they're looking for. This game uses more classic style graphics. It also has a rather compelling story line.

Pikuniku

Pikuniku is a game every physics geek will love. It begins with a silly character that can kick people at random. This leads to interesting scenarios, which test the limits of physics.
If you love watching Myth Busters or the Big Bang Theory, you should add this game to your shopping list.

Wattam

Wattam is as bizarre as games come, but in the best way possible. The protagonist goes on strange journeys and encounters new adventures every few minutes. Even the simplest things, such as unexpected words being spoken transform the game in unexpected ways.

Ghost Song

You probably didn't know that Adult Swim creates a lot of interesting indie games. If you haven't tried any of them yet, you should give Ghost Song a chance.
The graphics on this game will make you feel like you're going back in time. They are a bit grainy, so they will remind you of the days of VHS tapes and MTV. This may not be the most popular game for people that want to enjoy contemporary graphics, but it should be a hit for Gen Xers that want a throwback to their youth.

Severed

If you couldn't tell from the title, Severed is a hack and slash game. However, if you are expecting a cliché story line, then you will be pleasantly surprised.
Severed is set in an Eastern village. The main character is a young woman that is born with a destiny to become a great warrior. An unknown evil force begins to permeate the land, so she needs to fight epic battles to protect the village.
Whether you are a classic action game lover or an ardent feminist, you will probably fall in love with this game right away.

VA-11 HALL-A

VA-11 HALL-A is admittedly a pretty bizarre name for a video game title. Fortunately, this game makes up for the quirky title with a unique and addicting storyline.
The main character is a cyborg bartender living in a post-apocalyptic world. He encounters all kinds of strange characters and must stay on his toes to stay alive.
