Did you set a fitness goal for your 2017 New Year's resolutions? Unfortunately, 73% of people give them up.
Staying fit isn't easy. You have to exercise regularly and eat right to stay on track. Fortunately, there are a variety of gadgets that can help you meet them.
Fitbit is one of the most popular, but the bands tend to break, which can be costly if you don't have a warranty. Even without this problem, it still isn't one of the best. Here are a few alternatives that are worth looking into.

Wellograph

Most listicles on fitness gadgets start off with Fitbit. I decided to change things up a little, mostly because I am not a huge fan of that app. The bands always break and it doesn't really help much anyways.
Wellograph is a much better waterproof fitness tracker. It allows you to track your heart rate, steps and fitness goals. You can measure it over the course of a day or week.

Garmin Forerunner

The Garmin Forerunner is a very popular app for measuring fitness targets. It was designed specifically for triathletes, but anyone can use it. Here are some of the best features:

  • It tracks your position with GPS.
  • It monitors your heart rate.
  • It keeps track of your sleep patterns.
  • It measures your steps.

The only downside with the Garmin Forerunner is its price. You will need to pay $449.99 to purchase it new, but you can find some cheaper alternatives on Amazon, such as Misfit Ray.

Misfit Ray

Misfit Ray is one of the most versatile fitness trackers you can get for under $100. It tracks your sleep, steps and heart rate. As an added bonus, it is water resistant, so it can be good for swimmers. Fitbit and most other trackers can't be submerged in water, which means they aren't useful for athletes that engage in water activities.
You can find a version for $69.99 and a slightly more comfortable one for $99.99. However, there are a couple of downsides:

  • You can't change the bands very easily. You actually need a special tool, so it's recommended that you only change them if they are breaking.
  • It doesn't come with a display unit.

If you are on a tight budget, Misfit Ray is one of the best apps on the market.

Sworkit

Have you ever tried the Insanity workouts? Then you will love Sworkit.
Sworkit is a series of video workouts that can be delivered right to your Apple Watch or mobile device. You can choose the workout routine that works best for you. You can also choose random workouts if you can't make up your mind.

Polar V800

Polar V800 is another great waterproof fitness tracker. It comes with a two-year limited warranty, which is much better than Fitbit (and the bands also don't break as easily).
Here are some benefits of Polar V800:

  • You get customer tips for running, swimming and other popular activities.
  • It monitors your recovery status, to help prevent injuries.
  • It is compatible with Bluetooth Smart running and heart monitoring sensors.
  • It comes with a built-in GPS to monitor your speed.
  • It is ideal for interval training workouts, because it can monitor quick changes in pace.

There are plenty of great reasons to use Polar V800. However, it costs $439 plus shipping and handling, so you need to have a decent budget for it.
