Tinder became very popular in 2014. Unfortunately, the dating app isn't all that it's cracked up to be. It's pretty lousy at finding compatible matches and people are really disengage, so many users (especially women) don't really respond.
The good news is there are a number of other apps that are taking the dating community by storm. Here are some cool dating apps that may give Tinder a run for its money.

Bumble

Bumble is very similar to Tinder at first glance. However, it's different in one major way - the women must message the guys first.
This changes the dynamic for the better. One of the downsides with Tinder is that sketchy men have poisoned the well. Girls became so sick of being harassed, that they stopped even responding to messages from decent guys. Many nice guys stop using the app out of frustration, so girls were even less likely to reply.
With bumble, girls reply to seemingly decent guys first. This helps make sure decent connections are made.

SWEATT

Many singles insist on dating people that keep themselves in shape. This is one of the reasons guys often hit on girls at the gym. Of course, many girls get annoyed with this, because they really just want to work out there.
SWEATT is a better alternative. This app was made specifically for fitness minded singles. You can match with people that share similar fitness goals, which is a feature that tinder obviously lacks.

Tastebuds

For many singles, finding someone that shares their taste in music is also very important. Many people enjoy going to concerts on dates and going to bars that play their favorite music. Things can be very awkward if you don't like the same genre and artists.
Tastebuds is a unique app that lets you match with people that share your musical taste. It can connect to your Facebook account to see what artists you're following.

The Grade

The Grade is another app that's designed to weed out annoying male users that ruin the experience. Many women complain about men that are too pushy or lack class. The Grade has a unique algorithm that addresses the problem. Here are some variables it uses:

  • Penalizes users for spelling mistakes
  • Gives higher scores two profiles with a detailed descriptions and quality images
  • Docks users with low response rates
  • Penalizes people that are rude or overly hostile

This app may be a great alternative for people that are sick of the problems tinder creates.

Everywr

Everywr is intended to be a much more low-key app than Tinder. The focus is on finding people that you can have fun with, rather than finding hookups.
Although the app is still being tested, it's a nice alternative for people that are sick of getting requests for one-night stands. People should have an easier time finding nice people to spend time with that could eventually lead to long-term relationships.

Forget About Tinder. These New Apps Are Where It's At!

Tinder was a nice concept, but it wasn't executed very well. There are a lot of new apps that make it easier to find people. Most of them are free to try, so why not give them a shot?
