Back when HTG was still in its early days we showed you how to check which groups your Linux user belongs to. Years later we needed to do this on a Windows box so we thought we would share it with you.
See Which Group Your Windows User Belongs To
Depending on which security groups your Windows user belongs to, you may or may not have access to specific files and folders on your local system. I am using Windows 8, but this will work on any system as far back as XP, and may even work on earlier versions on Windows although they were before my time.
whoami /groups
My user is just part of the default Window groups for the most part. Unfortunately Windows doesn’t have a built in way for you to see which groups another user is part of unless you are in a domain environment.
