Bruce Springteen and the E Street Band Guns and Roses U2 Hall & Oates
Answer: Hall & Oates
Hall & Oates, a musical duo composed of Daryl Hall & John Oates, got together in the late 1960s as the result of a ballroom brawl turned ugly. In 1967 both men were at the Adelphi Ballroom in Philadelphia promoting their own separate musical groups in a battle of the bands style competition. The music wasn’t the only thing people were fighting over, however. Rival gang members in the crowd began to fight, guns were drawn, and when the shots rang out Hall and Oates found themselves united, both escaping the chaos via a service elevator behind the stage.
The two stage refugees hit it off, found they had quite a bit in common (like both attending Philadelphia’s Temple University), and even ended up becoming roommates. When they decided to form a musical act together in 1970, they lifted their band name right off the mailbox of their apartment: “Hall & Oates”.
