The new feature complete beta version of Firefox 4.0 is available for download and is faster than ever. Even better is the news that the Add-on APIs are also stable now, so you should soon see your favorite extensions updating for 4.0.
Here is what is new/fully active in Beta 7:
- The JagerMonkey JIT compiler has been incorporated along with enhancements to TraceMonkey JIT and the SpiderMonkey interpreter.
- Hardware-accelerated graphics (compositing)
- WebGL for rendering 3D graphics
- Support for the OpenType font format
- Improved HTML5 forms
Add all of that in with other 4.0 features such as Firefox Sync, Panorama, App Tabs, & the new Add-ons Manager and you have a totally awesome browser. With the feature set now stabilized, all that is left to do is make any needed refinements, fix bugs, and work on problems that cause the browser to crash.
