If you’re looking for a way to create a custom fit drawer liner for your tools, electronics, or other small objects, this clever hack uses some old fabric and expanding spray foam to create a perfect fit.
All you need for this project is the drawer you want to fit with a liner, the tools/objects you want to create a mold for, some fabric (like an old t-shirt) and a can of expanding foam. Lay the tools in the drawer, arranged like you’d like them, drape with with the cloth, and then spray the foam on. Let it expand for a few moments and then place a backer on top of the foam (like a piece of old plywood cut to fit) and weigh it down. Let the foam set over night and then pull it out and flip it over, fitting it into the drawer face up. The result looks like the photo above, a clean and perfectly fit insert for your favorite tools.
