Razer today announced an update to its Blade Pro laptop, adding THX certification and a seventh-generation Intel Kaby Lake processor to its high-end gaming system.

The Blade Pro will become the first laptop with THX Mobile Certification, an accreditation that applies to audio and visual output from the machine. By working with THX, Razer is able to provide a headset jack that meets several high-quality audio watermarks, as well as a display calibrated and tested for premium color accuracy and video playback.

The audio jack matches THX requirements for voltage output, frequency response, distortion, and crosstalk, all to guarantee clear sound through headphones. The screen, meanwhile, remains at 17.3 inches with a 4K resolution, but boasts a THX color profile for a better picture.

With a Kaby Lake processor, the Blade Pro will be a bit faster than its Skylake predecessor, boast better 4K playback, and be more power efficient. It will also feature faster DDR4 memory (2,667MHz as opposed to the previous 2,133MHZ) and still make use of an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 graphics card. It will be available in April on Razer's website and select retailers, starting at $3,999.99.

These features are included specifically in the Blade Pro because Razer's premium laptop aims not just at hardcore gamers, but art and design professionals. Adding this support to the refreshed version further appeals to that demographic, supplementing existing features like the 100 percent Adobe color spectrum display. "The Razer Blade Pro is a top-level laptop providing an excellent THX viewing mode and audio experience," says Ty Ahmad-Taylor, CEO of THX. "It can easily handle extreme gaming and content creation with exceptional mobile audio and visual performance."
