When we first got a look at the Misfit Vapor smartwatch at CES in January, we gave the device props for its stylish design, but one big question remained: what type of software would it run? Now, we finally have an answer to that question.
Misfit on Thursday announced that the $199 Vapor, expected to hit store shelves in late summer, will be powered by Google's latest wearable device operating system, Android Wear 2.0. That means the watch will support hundreds of apps, plus loads of other features like customized watch faces, on-board music functionality, and Google Assistant.
"Our partnership means hundreds of your favorite apps will be available at launch, opening up a multitude of possibilities for Android and iPhone users alike," Misfit wrote in a blog post. That includes Foursquare, Google Fit, Google Maps, Google Play Music, Lifesum, Google Messenger, Runkeeper, Runtastic, Strava, Uber, and more.
Meanwhile, you'll be able to personalize your watch face with thousands of different styles, depending on what you're wearing and your mood, as well as app shortcuts and info like your next calendar appointment, stock performance, and fitness goals.
Thanks to the on-board music functionality, you'll be able to leave your phone at home or in the car, and still listen to music when you're working out. Speaking of working out, the watch will keep track of your calories burned, pace, distance, and heart rate for runs, walks, and bike rides, and all your stats will be compatible with Google Fit.

When you need assistance, you'll be able to press a button on the watch and say "Ok Google" to ask about the weather, get directions, set a reminder, turn off your lights, and more.
Vapor will work with any phone running Android 4.3 or iOS 9 or higher. It features a 1.39-inch round display inside a stainless steel casing in black or rose gold. It's water resistant to 50 meters and has an accelerometer, altimeter, gyroscope, optical heart rate sensor, GPS, and microphone for your fitness tracking needs.
