LOS ANGELES—The Xbox One X, the newest addition to the Xbox One family of video game consoles, won't arrive until Nov. 7, but publishers are already preparing themselves—and die hard Xbox fans—for the system's fall release.

Promising true 4K resolution (unlike the PS4 Pro's upconverted 4K fidelity), faster load times, and 60 frames-per-second gameplay for many titles, Xbox One X has the makings of a console powerhouse. Microsoft touts the machine as the world's most powerful home video game console, after all.

Surprisingly, it's not just upcoming Xbox One X games benefitting from the machine's? muscle, but already released Xbox One titles, too. The machine's custom 8-core, 2.3GHz AMD CPU, 12GB of DDR5 RAM, and 326GBps memory bandwidth will contribute to the system's ability to deliver many enhancements to standard Xbox One titles. That said, publishers must first release software updates to take advantage of the new power.

These optimized titles, branded as "Xbox One X Enhanced Games," include:

  • Ark Survival: Evolved
  • We Happy Few
  • Chess Ultra
  • The Elder Scrolls: Morrowind Upgrade
  • Rime
  • Everspace
  • Portal Knights
  • Injutsice 2
  • The Surge
  • Paladins
  • Outlast 2
  • Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands
  • Halo Wars 2 Standard Edition
  • For Honor Standard Edition
  • Resident Evil 7 Biohazard
  • Astroneer

The "Xbox One X Enhanced" logo will appear on retail and digital game boxes to highlight titles that will receive the Xbox One X boosts. That said, the precise benefits will vary from game to game, so you shouldn't expect the listed titles to gain the same Xbox One X bonuses across the board.

In fact, Microsoft states on its website that "If a game has the Xbox One X Enhanced logo, this means developers have done some work to improve an existing title or implemented the most recent developer tools to fully take advantage of Xbox One X's power. Overall, games will play better on Xbox One X. Even if it isn't enhanced, but the Xbox One X Enhanced logo will help consumers identify games that are making the most of its hardware."

These patched editions may include a native 4K resolution, high dynamic range (HDR), or more nebulous enhancements that come courtesy of the system's 6 teraflops of power. Expect more titles to be added to the "Xbox One X Enhanced" list as we approach the Xbox One X's release date.
