Driving around trying to find a parking spot isn't very fun, but Google Maps may soon be able to help.

With Maps v9.44 beta, when you search for driving directions, you'll see a parking icon (a small round P) next to where it shows an estimate of how long your trip will take.

Next to that icon, Google will tell you that parking there is Easy, Medium, or Limited. If parking is limited, the parking icon will show up in red, otherwise it will be blue.

You can expand the directions to get more information. Google may, for instance, tell you that "parking is usually limited near this destination," so you can be prepared before you head out.

"Our tipster tells us that according to his tests, parking availability shows up for public destinations like malls and airports and various attractions," Android Police reports.

Meanwhile, the latest Google Maps beta also gives you a sense of a location's vibe before you visit. When browsing the listing for a coffee shop or restaurant, for instance, you may see a new section called "Atmosphere," Android Police says, with photos of the place, so you can decide if it's the type of setting you're after.

In the fall, Google-owned Waze partnered with Inrix, a connected car and movement analytics company, to boost Waze's existing "where to park" feature and provide more robust recommendations for where they can stash their car.

Google also recently added a feature to its Maps that lets you book and pay for an Uber, even if you don't have the Uber app installed on your device.
