Heads up, Pokémon Go trainers: the game that turned into a social phenomenon turns one on July 6, and developer Niantic just announced some special in-game and real-world events planned to celebrate the occasion.

The big event will be Pokémon Go Fest, which is slated to take place in Chicago on July 22. This will be the first Niantic-organized live event for the game; the company is inviting trainers around the world to Chicago's Grant Park to meet each other and "engage in a variety of activities" to celebrate one year of catching 'em all. Tickets will go on sale beginning June 19 at 10 a.m. PT; pricing has not yet been announced.

Can't make it to Chicago? Niantic plans to hold events in several other events cities across North America, in partnership with the Knight Foundation, a nonprofit working to "foster informed and engaged communities." Niantic first partnered with the Knight Foundation last month as part of a multiyear commitment to promoting civic engagement together.

Meanwhile, Niantic also tipped details of its first Pokémon Go in-game event of the summer. The Solstice Event runs for one week: from Tuesday, June 13 at 1 p.m. P.T until June 20 at 1 p.m. P.T.

"During this event, Trainers can expect increased encounter rates for their favorite Fire-type and Ice-type Pokémon, including Charmander, Cyndaquil, Houndour, Swinub, Sneasel, and their Evolutions, and others," the company said. "Trainers will also be awarded increased XP for in-game actions like Curveballs, Nice Throws, Great Throws, Excellent Throws, and more."

Finally, Niantic is also holding special Pokemon Go first anniversary events for fans across the pond. Those events, which are being held in partnership with Unibail-Rodamco shopping centers, will take place across Europe from June through September. There will also be a "Pikachu Outbreak" event in Yokohama, Japan in August.

"It's been an incredible first year for Pokémon GO thanks to the passion and dedication from the global Trainer community," Niantic CEO John Hanke said in a statement. "As part of the first anniversary, we'll be giving players around the world the chance to enjoy fun in-game events, engage with friends and other Trainers at real-world events, and much more."
