Dell today unveiled three new Chromebooks designed for the classroom.
The Chromebook 11, Chromebook 11 Convertible, and Chromebook 13 are aimed at K-12 students and teachers, and built to survive spills and drops.
The 11-inch Chromebook 11 (below) sports an 11.6-inch non-touch LCD display that can lie flat at 180 degrees for classroom collaboration. Dell tips an ergonomically designed keyboard with "secure" keys that will stand up to the wear and tear of daily use. That keyboard and the click pad are also sealed to guard against spills. The Chromebook 11 features a headphone/microphone jack, one card reader, two USB 3.0 ports, and a full-size HDMI port. It weighs just under 3 pounds and runs a sixth-gen Intel Celeron processor for about 10 hours of battery life, Dell says. Look for it on Feb. 7 on Dell.com starting at $219.
For more flexibility, the 11.6-inch Chromebook 11 Convertible 2-in-1 can bend 360 degrees to form clamshell, tablet, or tent positions. It has similar specs to the Chromebook 11, but features a Corning Gorilla Glass touch display and a higher $349 starting price.
The Chromebook 13 also has similar features, but sports a larger 13.3-inch display and has the option for a more powerful sixth-gen Intel Core i3 processor, plus all-day battery life. It also arrives Feb. 7 starting at $299.

For those not quite ready to embrace Chrome OS, Dell is also offering Windows-based versions of these laptops, the Latitude 11 ($349), Latitude 11 Convertible ($579), and Latitude 13 ($519), all of which arrive on Feb. 7, too. The Convertible supports the Dell Productivity Active Pen, while the Latitude 13 can tap into E-Rate mobile broadband for schools with spotty Wi-Fi.
Microsoft this week also tipped several other affordable 2-in-1s for education from Lenovo, Acer, and JP.IK.
Dell also introduced the 55-inch and 86-inch 4K Interactive Touch Monitors for classroom presentations and collaboration. An alternative to interactive whiteboards, the new additions hit shelves on March 30, with styli and anti-glare, anti-smudge glass coating. Final cost has not been revealed, but Dell suggested a sub-$5,000 price tag for the 55 4K monitor and below $11,000 for the 84-inch screen.
