Today Amazon introduced yet another incentive to sign-up and pay for its Prime service: Prime Live Events.

The idea is a simple one: offer paying Prime subscribers exclusive access to their favorite artists performing live in intimate venues. The first of these is already scheduled to take place on May 23 in London, with Blondie performing songs from their new album Pollinator to an audience of 750 Prime people at the Round Chapel in Hackney.

As you'd expected, Amazon is handling the events using its Amazon Tickets service, with the Blondie tickets going on sale from 9am on Thursday, May 11. Ticket sales will be limited to two per customer and no physical tickets will be sent out. Instead, each event has a list of names on the door and photo ID is required to prove who you are and gain entry. Tickets can't be transferred and won't be refunded, but they can be purchased as a gift for someone else. Pricing will vary per event, with Blondie tickets cost £150 ($194) each.

For now, Prime Live Events is focusing on London with events planned involving Alison Moyet, Texas, and Katie Melua spread across June and July. Amazon is sure to expand this to be a worldwide offer, though, as it's going to be an extremely popular feature of Prime that will encourage a lot of new subscribers. That is, of course, if the artists continue to line up to do these intimate events. And why wouldn't they?

As this is Amazon, it will be interesting to see what else gets offered to event attendees. For example, will Amazon products be on sale there? Will there be offers on the music you are listening to? I'm sure Jeff Bezos won't miss this opportunity to experiment and disrupt what everyone's idea of a music event is.
