#SpiritCooking: Um... what? The top trend on Twitter on Friday morning relates to an alleged email released by WikiLeaks. The alleged email to Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta mentions a spirit cooking dinner. WikiLeaks tweeted that this involves "blood, sperm and breastmilk." Spirit cooking refers to performance artist Marina Abramovic's "cookbook" of recipes to cook up thoughts -- not meals. However, some on Twitter are taking it to the extreme and accusing the former secretary of state of devil worship. "This is not the first or last time that WikiLeaks has tweeted propaganda while doing Putin's bidding," a Clinton campaign representative wrote in an email. CNET cannot independently verify the information in the alleged email, and it is be entirely possible that someone altered the email before it was publicly released.
Hamilton Mixtape: If you need eye bleach after reading about spirit cooking, take a listen to preview tracks from the "Hamilton" mixtape. Fans of the hit Broadway musical were celebrating on Twitter after "Hamilton" creator Lin-Manuel Miranda announced he is releasing a mixtape based on the show's songs. Singer Kelly Clarkson's rendition of "It's Quiet Uptown" is already a stand-out hit.
A Series of Unfortunate Events: This trending topic is not about the US presidential election. Netflix dropped a new teaser for its exclusive series on Thursday night, with Neil Patrick Harris as the villainous Count Olaf. Facebook users are not thrilled with the casting, arguing that the actor isn't dark or brooding enough to play the creepy count.
Walter Cronkite: Friday's Google Doodle celebrates what would have been the 100th birthday of the "most trusted man in America." The legendary CBS journalist made his last broadcast on March 6, 1981, and he died in 2009 at age 92. (Note: CBS is the parent company of CNET.) Cronkite was trending on Twitter with many paying tribute to his contributions to journalism.
