Do you want access to the streamlined menu button UI that has been available on the Windows version of Firefox for a bit now? All that you need to do to get it is add a new PPA to your software sources.
Note: You can also see the new Panorama Feature Button in the red outlined area in the image above.
To add the new PPA open the Ubuntu Software Center, go to the Edit Menu, and select Software Sources. Access the Other Software Tab in the Software Sources Window and add the first PPA shown below (outlined in red). Adding the first PPA on our system automatically added the second one in for us afterwards.
Once you have finished adding the new PPAs, check for software updates on your system and install them. At this point you will have the nightly builds for the 3.6.x version available on your system.
There is one more step that you will need to do in order to get access to the new UI. Open the Ubuntu Software Center and conduct a search for “Firefox 4.0”. Scroll down until you find the Firefox 4.0 entry shown here and install it.
Once the installation is complete go to your menu…you will now have access to two different versions of Firefox at the same time on your system. And yes, you can run both 3.6.x and 4.0 simultaneously!
Have fun with the new menu button UI on your Ubuntu system!
